Taking one step at a time has been the philosophy that has enabled Ben Atkin to steadily grow his construction company into a thriving concern.
BMA Construction, established in the mid-1990s, carries out domestic, commercial and local authority building work throughout the East Midlands and beyond.
Specialising in new homes, home extensions, conversions, refurbishments and renovations, BMA has built a reputation for quality and reliability. This has led to commercial and local authority work, including hospital extensions, school extensions and community buildings.
It all started when Ben left school and began work as a builder’s labourer. He worked all over the country and learned quickly, specialising in bricklaying. Soon he was carrying out some projects himself, such as garden walls and small extensions.
Starting his own company 15 years ago was not a difficult decision. “It just seemed a natural progression,” he said. BMA Construction now has three permanent employees, plus more than 20 sub-contractors, who can handle every aspect of a project.
